So I went to the Kitty Pryde show last night
My friend Pam hit me up last minute, and I went civilian to Santos Party House. I love what I do, but it was really refreshing to go to a show without a camera, no pressure. I can’t remember the last time I had that much fun at a show. I hovered on the edge of a baby mosh pit! Everyone sang along to “Call Me Maybe”! Kitty threw glitter on me twice! It was great!
I just find Kitty Pryde very easy to like. There’s the genuine sensitivity, the honest internet presence, the lack of particular ambition (though for what it’s worth, her new song sounds very promising). I love Kitty Pryde because we’ve all been there. I know I’m still carrying my 19-year-old self around, and she’s probably a better person than I was when I was that age, moping in my dorm room and unable to get over myself. Even now I’m having days where “Okay Cupid” spans the exact amount of time it takes to deliberate over a text to a guy I know I have to give up on, before I hit “send,” throw my phone down on my bed, and imagine a world where I know how to make winged eyeliner match on both of my eyes. And that’s what Kitty Pryde is for.
